Safeguarding for the future

Sport Integrity Australia has partnered with the Australian Sports Commission to update its online learning platform, Game Plan, to include a new safeguarding self-assessment.

The Safeguarding Self-Assessment module is designed to assist sporting organisations to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement in their child safe practices and processes. It has been developed as part of the Safeguarding in Sport Continuous Improvement Program (SISCIP).

The release of the new module supports the SISCIP in providing sports with education, training and ongoing support so they can provide a safe and inclusive environment for all members, including children and young people.

Once a sport signs up to the SISCIP, they will complete the Game Plan module. The module asks a series of questions aligned with the 10 National Child Safe Principles recommended by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

The SISCIP launched in 2022 by Sport Integrity Australia is a collaborative approach with the Safeguarding Team. Once a sport has completed the Game Plan module, the Safeguarding Team will work with the sport to build their capability in safeguarding children and young people.

The new module is available now on the Australian Sports Commission, Game Plan online platform and is available for completion once a sport has signed up to the SISCIP.

For more information on how to sign up to the SISCIP and completing the Game Plan module contact the Safeguarding Team at safeguarding@sportintegrity.gov.au.
