Classification Fundamentals Course Update 2024
Sport Integrity Australia has updated the Classification Fundamentals course for 2024 in partnership with Paralympics Australia.
Para-sport is open to athletes with different levels of physical, vision or intellectual impairments across many sports.
The eLearning course update offers comprehensive education about the classification requirements in Para-sport and is designed for all athletes and support personnel participating in competitive sport.
The updated course provides athletes with an overview of classification requirements at both the national and international level so that you are prepared no matter where you’re competing.
Topics covered include:
- Preparing for classification
- Classification outcomes
- Protests and appeals, and
- Reporting intentional misrepresentation.
Classification is an essential part of Para-sport that decides:
- Which athletes are able to compete in each Para-sport, and
- Who they compete against in their sport.
This course will give you the basics about what Para-sport classification is, how it is run and what your responsibilities might be as part of the process. The course is a general overview of classification only, each Para-sport might run its processes slightly differently to what is described.
This course will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
Includes case studies and activities
Information in the updated Classification Fundamentals course is featured in a variety of formats including videos, quizzes, case studies and activities.
