New hotline for members to share their story
From 31 January, Sport Integrity Australia’s hotline capability expanded for members to share their story about issues they have experienced in sport.
As a result, we have a hotline - 1800 161 361 - which will operate from 7am-7pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
This new Safe Sport hotline includes an anonymous reporting capability, which covers wider racial and cultural issues in sport for people who feel they have been discriminated against in their sport. We can also put callers in touch with support services if needed.
This new service, which was announced by Minister for Sport Anika Wells in September 2022, will not only give people an opportunity to be heard but will help us to understand exactly where the problems lie so we can work with everyone involved to create a sporting culture free from abuse.
The hotline will allow people to make complaints about abuse in sport, although Sport Integrity Australia will not be able to investigate historical matters.
If a caller wishes to make a complaint, they can also do so via the complaints section on our website.
What does our 1300 027 232 number do?
The 1300 number will continue to act as a general helpline for matters of education, therapeutic use exemptions and whereabouts.
It will still be a number where people with an ongoing complaint can call to talk to someone about their matter during business hours. It is also for people enquiring about the complaint process.
People are encouraged to submit their complaint in writing via our web form. It is important that the information received is accurate. In order to avoid any misunderstanding, we prefer that it is written by the complainant in their own words.
